During yoga and meditation, I love to burn incense as I find it really adds to my connection of the senses and enhances my practice by causing my body to feel emotions, dependent on what I burn. I have listed below a few of my favourite kinds of incense.
Citronella - Citronella is used for a whole range of reasons, including to relieve anxiety, so I like to burn it in times of stress, and then meditate to improve my mood. I’ve also read it can be used for boosting sexual energy, so it’s perfect for burning in the bedroom when the mood strikes. Most commonly though, it also repels insects.
Myrrh- Although I’m still not quite sure how to pronounce this word, it’s one of my favourites to use. It has a very strong, heady and intoxicating smell to it. Myrrh is an intensely spiritual incense that is often said to help with accessing your Kundalini Energy. It can be used to help with accessing your higher self and engaging with your spiritual self on a deeper level.
Cinnamon- Cinnamon, with its delicious, attractive smell is great for inciting passion or love. This could be in the romantic sense, but also passion for ones hobbies or love for oneself. If you’re feeling a bit low, this is a great one to burn.
Lavender - Lavender is an incense I love to burn when it’s time to go to sleep or have some relaxing time. Lie in bed, breathe in deep and do some visualisation activities in order to maximise the effects of Lavender!
Patchouli- Patchouli has a dark sexy scent so it is no surprise that it has sexy properties too. Some people burn patchouli when they want to attract sex, or money. Although I get plenty of sex and I can’t attest for it bringing me money, I do enjoy it’s sexy scent and it’s always worth a try!
